What a Year!
Last year LIAT's future was far from certain. Although we had just celebrated our 50th birthday, we were in deep financial difficulty; facing a possible merger with Caribbean Star; and many of us didn't know whether we would keep our jobs into the New Year. Would we make it to our 51st birthday?
And yet, here we are - the Caribbean Airline: financially stable and increasing our staff. What a turn around!
The New Year 2008 promises to be another landmark year, as we get down to the serious business of transforming LIAT. Our vision is for LIAT to become the Caribbean Airline of Choice: Customer focused, efficient, value for money and above all safe. Achieving this will take a great deal of hard work and dedication.
The eyes of the Caribbean are on us. It is quite a responsibility. We cannot afford to fail. I am certain everyone will rise to the challenge.
As 2007 comes to a close, there are many that we ought to thank for their support over the year. Special thanks must go to Prime Ministers: Baldwin Spencer, Dr. Ralph Gonsalves and Owen Arthur, for their unwavering support. I would also like to pay special tribute to our Chairman, Dr. Jean Holder for his tireless efforts on our behalf, along with other members of the Board. And of course, you! Without you, what would LIAT be?
In closing I would like to wish you, your families and friends, an enjoyable Christmas and a very successful and prosperous New Year!
